Polari Lesson 9: Clothing

There exists a number of terms for different items of clothing in Polari. Much like lesson 6 which covered different terms for body parts, this lesson will firstly show a series of two diagrams, before moving into a vocabulary list with example sentences. Be sure to view the key vocabulary section under the vocabulary list so that you are able to understand the example sentences.

Capella  Hat

That bodega sells bona capellas.


Kapello  Cloak

I was sat in the middle of the stage with a big goolie kapello.


Batts  Shoes

My batts make a cod old creaking sound whenever I troll about.


Fakements  Adornments

His fakements were easily worth chenter funt.


Camisa  Shirt

The camisa was covered in stains.


Almond Rocks  Socks

That sounds so naff I’d rather rearrange a draw of almond rocks.


Ogle Rider Fakes  Fake Eyelashes

My ogle rider fakes fell off halfway through the nochy.


Slap  Makeup

I put on a pogey bit of slap.


Groinage  Jewelry

She shushed the groinage from the carsey.


Shyckle  Wig

The shyckle had been faked from real human riah.


Aunt Nelly Fakes  Earrings

Her aunt nelly fakes shone in the sun.


Groin  Ring

The groin wouldn’t fit my fat index-lupper.
