Polari Lesson 4: Locations

With Polari’s cultural centre being located in the sprawling English capital of London, it is no surprise that Polari contains such a large number of terms for different locations. In this lesson, some of these terms will be taught alongside example sentences.

Below are 8 terms for different locations in Polari. Be sure to refer to the ‘key vocabulary’ sections below so you are able to fully understand the example sentences.

Queer Ken  Prison

Carsey  House

It’s a bona carsey with a nice garden.


Gaff  Funfair

Cottage  Lavatory

There was no bimph in the cottage again.


Eine  London

There’s always a dowry of parnie in Eine.


Carnish Ken  Restaurant

I jarried some bona carnish at the carnish ken.
